In some ways yeas, I read these books 20 years agao and its like rediscovering them again. Who was your favorite character and why? Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Yes, I just drove from Melbourne to Brisbane and it went in a flash listening to these novels. Any additional comments?

The Nutmeg Of Consolation by O'Brian, Patrick
The flow of the series is at its best in the repeating year of All the characters and places seem so very real. This is one of the best books in the series , though they are all great. The insight of early Australia is particularly good.
Best narrator I have heard. From a desert island to the penal colony in Australia O'Brian's story is a must for all seafarers. A splendid continuation. Loved it to bits. Auteur: Patrick O'Brian.

The novel series, the first of which is Master and Commander, is known for its well-researched and highly detailed portrayal of early 19th-century life, as well as its authentic and evocative language. A partially finished 21st novel in the series was published posthumously containing facing pages of handwriting and typescript. O'Brian wrote a number of other novels and short stories, most of which were published before he achieved success with the Aubrey—Maturin series. He also translated works from French to English, and wrote two biographies.
